Who are we?
Duen Experience operates an expedition sailing vessel in Northern Norway. Choose from a variety of excursions and expeditions and experience the Arctic in an unrushed way. Leave Tromsø’s harbour and be bound for a skiing adventure in the Lyngen alps. Or set out on a wildlife excursion to seek out epic marine animals.
From May onwards Duen III is based out of the northernmost settlement in the world: Longyearbyen. Get on board in Svalbard and experience a sailing expedition unlike any other.
Duen Experience consists of a dedicated team of three people between the ages of 25-35. They all have experience from various fields within long-distance sailing, tall ships, and motor ships. Guest’s desires are always put in focus as journeys are planned.

Øyvind Nilssen
Meet Øyvind Nilssen, the founder and company leader. Øyvind is dedicated to running a professional ship and being a supportive leader with the resources at his disposal. Drawing from diverse maritime experiences, ranging from cargo vessels to traditional tall ships, he navigates our crew with dedication. On those quiet night watches, he enjoys sharing tales of odd inventions and discussing quirky zombie movies.
Beyond his role as captain and company leader, Øyvind brings a down-to-earth approach, making him not just a leader but a relatable companion on our maritime journey.
David Thornley
Meet David Thornley, the dynamic force in our crew, seamlessly blending skill and heart. His love for climbing and skiing mirrors his fearless approach to challenges. Beyond technical prowess, David's good-hearted nature sets the tone for collaboration, making him the heart of our team. An avid listener, he lends an ear and offers
insightful perspectives. As a good teacher, David shares his expertise, enriching our collective knowledge. As we navigate projects, David's positivity, adept problem-solving, and teaching skills ensure our success.
